So, I want to build a wind turbine to power my home with electricity (I'm not really going off the grid, but I would like to reduce my electric bills.)

But before I get started, I'm going to have to check my local municipality's regulations to make sure I don't run afoul of any obscure laws. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with a homeowner's association. Some of those don't even let you put up a clothesline!

In the past, the main reason why I've never really given serious thought to adding solar panels to my house is because they were just too expensive. At least, the up-front costs were too much for me at the time. (I didn't want to wait 10 years to "break-even" on the initial cost of installing a home solar power system)

But then I heard about a way to install solar panels that is affordable for me. Now I am getting ready to give it a shot. I found some great tutorial videos and a step-by-step guide from a company called Earth 4 Energy.
